Callahan Chronicals - Spider Robinson

Short story collection - read the first two. Would be good reads just one at a time, didn't find it compelling as a book.

A War of Gifts - Orson Scott Card

3.5/5 - Only for the truly hard core Ender-verse person. Follows another kid - Ender gets involved - nothing remarkable. Oh yeah, I lost my $2 bill when I sent this book back to the library with it in there.

Hurricane Punch - Tim Dorsey

5/5 - Belated Entry - pretty dang good. More fun with Serge. Another killer on the loose copying Serge. Nothing groundbreaking, but fun.

DNF - Good Omens - Terry Pratchet

2/5 - End of days story, pretty funny at times, but I just couldn't stick to it. Got about 150 pages in, might try to pick up at a later time. Couldn't get into the character, got bored and wouldn't read more than 10 pages at a time. Seems like if you were into that kind of thing it'd be good (like fish).

Ender in Exile - Orson Scott Card

4/5

Takes place between Ender's Game and Speaker for the Dead. Explains how Ender becomes the Speaker and writes the Hive Queen and the Hedgemon. I would only recommend this to someone who is into the Ender universe, otherwise the book doesn't make much sense. This was kind of like watching the special features of cut out scenes on a DVD - pretty interesting, but you've got to be into it.

Explains how Ender finds the hive queen, Valentine's histories, etc.

Might read again if I did the whole series - would be interesting to read in order with this book.

The Shack - William Young

3.5/5

All right, heavy heavy on dialogue... felt like a lecture through bits. Not as life changing or earth shattering as some seem to describe. Interesting take, and a clever idea. In the afterword the author claims this is for non-Christians, but it's hard to see how. Wouldn't read again, but wouldn't tell someone not to read it.

Galactic Corps - Ian Douglas

5/5

Continuation of the last one (obviously). Head to the core of the galaxy, displace a sun, and let it reek havoc on the Xul. Pretty fun and good fluff reading. Looking forward to the next release in may. Would read again and would recommend.
